The Power of Storytelling to Create Community
Session Description:
Storytelling has been part of human societies for thousands of years and is a potent way of both passing on culture and creating connections between different groups. This presentation will discuss ways in which educators can use storytelling and stories to give students connections to diverse experiences, perspectives, and groups. We will also discuss the ways that storytellers can be used to invite students into diverse communities and teach students how to contextualize and share their own stories.
